Soul Care Project Provides Free Non-Denominational Spiritual Counseling

The Soul Care Project is run by the HealthCare Chaplaincy Network, a U.S.-based nonprofit healthcare organization. The SCP provides free, non-denominational spiritual support services. Its website provides resources such as counseling support, multi-faith prayers and meditations and advice for both caregivers and the terminally ill. SCP Counselors are available by phone, email and video call Monday through Friday.

According to the SCP’s website, all of its counselors are “board-certified health care chaplains.” Health care chaplains become board certified by one of three professional associations when they have completed graduate level study and 1600 hours of supervised clinical training; demonstrate competencies through a peer review process; and commit to a professional code of ethics.

Counselors “do not provide definitive answers to questions and issues of spiritual pain. Instead, they help people in distress to identify and draw upon their sources of wellness and strength – regardless of religion or beliefs,” SCP explains. Some counselors are ordained members of the clergy, and some are not. Regardless of their religious affiliations, all counselors are trained to “accept without judgment your beliefs, faith and practice as well as your doubts and misgivings.”‘
